Otoacoustic Emission Screening (OAE)
Measures response to sounds.

A non-invasive procedure that involves inserting a probe tip into the ear canal and measuring the ears response to sounds.

Play Conditioning Audiometry
The use of a play-like activity in response to sounds.

This test uses a play activity such as dropping a block into a bucket in response to sounds.

Pure-Tone Audiometry
Testing of tones at various pitches.

Testing procedure done in a sound booth to determine the faintest tones a person can hear at various pitches.

Real Ear Measurement

Measurements of sound in the ear canal used to verify the performance of hearing aids on an individual person.

Tympanometry

A non-invasive procedure using a small probe tip that is inserted into the ear canal to measure movement of the middle ear system.

Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA)
Testing procedure that looks for changes in behavior when sounds are presented.

This test is performed in a sound booth to look for changes in behavior when sounds are presented. Appropriate responses are rewarded with the presentation of a lighted animated toy.
